Enjoying my Budapest stay

Arrived last Tuesday after an uneventful but long flight from Sarajevo.

I detest schedules so didn’t have anything lined up for this part of my trip. A typical day for me is wandering around by foot and tram. Did manage to do a few things I missed on prior trips though.

Went on an evening cruise with Legenda. It was nice and glad I did it but probably a one and done. Will say the Parliament House looked fabulous all lit up.

Did not bring the proper clothes for an opera performance so settled on an Opera Tour. I thought it was great! Of course the building is gorgeous but the guide did an excellent job telling very interesting historical facts about how the opera house was used by nobles. Very glad I did this.

Headed by bus today to the Fisherman’s Bastion but missed the stop and was half way down the hill once I realized it. Will give that another go tomorrow & maybe see the changing of the guards then as well. Wound up getting off the bus near Chain Bridge and walked across and meandered around.

After that it was mass at St Stephens. I went to the English service and they had a choir. Quite nice. Beyond beautiful church. Third time to visit & will go again next time.

Am not a foodie but want to mention a couple places. Wanted to walk towards the river using streets I had not seen before. A perfect resting spot was Parisi Passage Restaurant. Beautiful inside, service good and music at exactly the right volume. I didn’t actually eat there but the coffee was good & it’s a place I would return too.

A new restaurant for me was La Nube Tapas & Wine Restaurant. It’s just off Bela Bartok Boulevard which in itself is pretty nice. I had the fried goose liver and it was delicious!! The servers were both efficient and friendly. I’ll go back next time.

Thinking about Rudas Bathhouse for Tuesday.

Mr. E, I’d suggest a coffee meet but looks like you’re in Istanbul.

Happy travels all

Sounds absolutely lovely and makes me with I were there! There’s really no such thing as getting lost in Budapest - there is only unexpected sightseeing! I have been to mass at Mattias Church but not yet at St. Stephen’s. Maybe that is a “next time” also.

In March, I flew the opposite way - FROM Budapest TO Sarajevo. Another city I love. :) Have a wonderful rest of your stay!

Jennya, sorry. Australia this week. Glad you are enjoying Budapest. Hope you enjoyed Sarajevo too. One of my favorites. I am back that way for fishing in May.
