For do it yourself in half a day (just to Szentendre) take the H5 Commuter train to Szentendre and the boat back (I think the boat runs March through October).

I’ve done all three towns in one day and I think it’s a bit much. Szentendre and Esztergom were the real jewels for me and both are accessible from Budapest on a train and connected, along with Visegrad, by a bus line. It would be tough to do all 3 by train and bus though and in the winter probably impossible before the sun sets.
