I dont know either of those links.

Around town I like City Taxi the best and they have a pretty good app which makes calling them easier. https://citytaxi.hu/en/home/

But they are all pretty good, because they are all well regulated and they all charge the same because the fee is regulated. From the airport the easiest is FoTaxi as they have the concession. There is a kiosk right outside the arrival hall door and it takes about 3 minutes to get in a taxi on most days. The cost into town is about 8.000 forints. They take credit cards.

Thank you Mr E,
Yes, I know the taxi fares are regulated and that is why I posted my query. Perhaps those links lead to companies outside of Hungary.

Anyway, as you say, for the airport run use the company in the airport and for City, use the City Taxi app.

Thanks again for your comment.

If you click on my name it goes to my info page and there you will find a link to a pdf with some travel notes. The most interesting thing possibly for you will be a map showing which trams go past which of the things to see.

Most of the trams are sort of old fashioned looking .... sort of fun, with very large windows to see what you are passing.

The nice thing about your age is that if you see something of interest, and I think the places between the points of interest are as fascinating and interesting as the tourism stops, then you just get off a the next stop and go look. Its all free so hop on and hop off all day. But you dont have to trudge around town all day.

I think you said you were staying by the Chain Bridge. Again, please make sure its the Pest side. That is where 90% of what you will see and do is located. On the Pest side the 2 Tram runs up and down the river front right past the Chain Bridge. It’s often called the most scenic tram ride in Europe; and especially after sunset, it is hard to beat. Good for you too, because it connects the Parliament to the Danube Corso to the Great Market Hall. And it connects the 4/6 Tram at one end. The 4/6 Tram will get you to Andrassy ut and it connects the 47/49 Tram at the other end and that will get you to the Dohany utca Synagogue and also Andrassy ut. In Buda the 47/49 Tram and the 4/6 Tram cross the 19/41 Tram that runs the Buda side of the Danube. This will get you to the Funicular, Palace Gardens, Gellert Bath House.

Okay sounds like a lot, but look at the map i referenced. Its really pretty easy.

The only difficulty for someone with a bad knee will be the three rather high steps into the tram. But people are patient and helpful if need be. These aren’t tourism trams, these are the daily transportation for the city and you will find, young, old, children, economically struggling and bank officers on the trams.

Brilliant help, thank you.

I have moved the accommodation to V1. Andrassy ut junction with Terez Kit area. Not booked as yet but saved until our travel insurance kicks in later this month. There are a few spots around there so should be no problem.
I've ensured there is a lift and air conditioning.

You choose wisely. If there is a choice even 100m down Andrassy and away from the Oktogon, a tad nicer.

Aradi u / Jokai ter junction would be closer to the accommodation. So some few 100 metres away from Oktogon.
