They don't say how soon, but this is encouraging news for those who don't mind public transport to/from the airport. The current option is a bit more involved than I like to bother with and have taken a taxi, and for those 6 am flights home a taxi will still be my preference.
And today they announced it starts 7/8 and will cost 900 HUF, about $3.50 - 4.00 US.

That would be a good option for a lot of people. I guess i am just crazy but when i can get a taxi from the airport to the center of town for about $27.50 i just wont mess with a bus. Picture the luggage mess. To compare, Rome has a fixed rate from the airport into the center of Rome. Its 48 euro or about $55. Twice the cost and that's pretty typical across Europe. But i am proud of you reading the Hungarian Papers. You are hooked! Now i have to get you to the Ukraine or the wilds of Montenegro......
My facebook feed is all full of Hungarian stuff, keeps me feeling connected when I am not there, i.e the other 360 or so days of the year, alas. I also read that they're shutting down my favorite bridge, Szabadsag hid, for a few summer weekends to allow people to party on it--how fun!
For just me and my suitcase the bus might be fine, depends on time of arrival and my energy level. I might check it out just to report on it if they start by next May.
Ukraine is a big contender, enjoying my research thus far. Your next trip report is most eagerly anticipated.
