Classical or Traditional Music Concerts in Budapest in September?

I will be in Budapest September 21-25 and want to schedule in some concerts both classical and traditional/folk music. I've looked at the website calendars for the opera house, Vigado, BMC, Liszt Music Academy, Fono, and Mupa. There is shockingly little on the calendars? Is there just not much happening in September or are calendars not determined this far in advance? Are there other venues I should be looking into (besides church concerts)?

I did find Marriage of Figaro at the Opera House and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra season opener on Sept. 25. But the others had nothing.

Anybody here from Budapest that can tell me if my timing is just bad for my vacation?

Well, I looked at all those and that’s what I saw also. I also checked the Opus Jazz Club, the Hungarian House of Music, and the MVM Dome and nothing much on those dates. I looked at the Budapest Operette and its schedule doesn’t seem to be up yet. The MUPA has more on, but probably not what you had in mind. Spinoza could have been an option for the folk music category, but those performances are Thurs. & Fri. and you will miss them.

Unless Mr. Ë comes up with something, you may just have the misfortune of being there the wrong few days.

It is the start of the week and that doesnt help.

September is a long way off, so keep checking the sights. Things do get updated.

And this is not normally a location in town that I would be thrilled to recommend, but in your case, maybe so. A hotel built around music: https://ariahotelbudapest.com/en/dining.html
