City Park - Budapest

Anyone know if the water in the pond in City Park (near Vajdahunyad Castle) has been cleaned and replenished with water and fish?

I dont think there are any fish in it. Might be, but doubt it. They do drain it and clean it every year (or thats what I have noticed). In the summer you boat on it and in the winter, with the assistance of some engineering, it freezes for ice skating (so the fish would become fish sticks as the water isnt that deep).

If you are looking for fishing you can fish the Danube or https://fishtime.eu/lokalita/hungary/#:~:text=In%20Budapest%2C%20fishing%20is%20allowed,30%2C000%20ha%20by%20fishermen%20alone.

But its mostly carp, which isnt my cup of tea.

I did some poking around, apparently the renovation project is larger than I knew. This could go on for a decade, but the skating rink says it will open again in November so the lake portion of the renovations has to be done by then. But I cant find any definate dates...... they try and avoid dates in Hungary because they are generally wrong by years and years ......

I suspect, but I am just guessing that the fish were in a smaller "pond" in the park. At least one is isolated completely from the larger boating pond and is in a very natural state. And branches off the boating pond have dams, so the boating pond can be drained for maintenance. I've seen the boating pond drained a number of times over the years, but this is the longest. I am surprised. I'll be there in 19 days. Wow! I better start packing!!
