cash only spots

The cash only spots are most often when the internet is down. That isn't as uncommon as it should be. Then ocassionaly in small establishments outside of the city center. The only place I have been in recent years within the city center that was cash only was the House of Houdini. Also cash can be used for tips. Cash tips are not taxed so they are appreciated. Some establishments do not allow tips on credit cards, i know one wine bar with that policy, not common but it happens. But tipping isnt essential here as most restaurants have a service charge. But if you want, then round up to 5% or a little more.

I'm an old fart so I always have some cash. Rarely more than 9.000 Ft. A lot of locals still use cash. I tell people go to an ATM and get 19.000Ft for a couple as that will buy a meal if needed or two entry tickets. Easy to spend on a taxi and at the airport on the way out if you still have it. But you can probably get by with nothing.
