We were looking for a comfortable way to visit Eger for a couple of nights before starting our tour in Budapest. As three seniors we didn't want to schlepp our suitcases from the airport to the bus or train stations and then on to the hotel. (I know, travel lighter!) I checked several possibilities on line but ended up hiring one of the drivers recommended by RS in the Budapest Guide: Zsolt Gal. He was waiting at the airport when we arrived, drove us directly to our hotel in Eger and picked us up again two days later and deposited us safely at our Budpest hotel. His car was clean and comfortable, the price was reasonable (cash), and it gave us a good start to a three-week visit to Hungary and the Czech Republic. Happy to recommend him to others looking to explore away from the city.
About how much did this cost?
300 Euro for the round-trip.
So, about 33 E / person / leg
Three people at 300 euros is 100 euros per person, round-trip. Two legs means 50 euros per person per leg. Certainly not a grotesque amount of money at all. I'd have guessed quite a bit more.
Agreed. Though Zsolt's quote was based on the vehicle needed, not the number of people to be transported: 300 E for a car, 400 for a van. If you can fill the vehicle it works out nicely. For one it would be an expensive trip.
I've been using this guy for about 7 years now. A good back up if the one referenced isnt available. http://silverwings.hu
