We will be in Split October 12-14, traveling by ferry to (14) Hvar, (15) Korcula then (16) Dubrovnik. We will have a car. Wonder what opinions are on dropping the car in Split and taking the passenger ferries, or keeping the car to be able to drive around the islands, and to Dubrovnik with side trip to Montenagro.

Well, you don’t need the car in Split or in Dubrovnik. Whether you need one on Hvar or Korćula might depend on where you are staying. I chose to not take one on the ferries and have it on the islands but I know others have made the opposite choice.

You might want to verify that you can take a rental car on ferries.
