We're leaving next month for our trip to Krakow and Budapest. I've got our days all sketched out for activities, based on what's closed, open etc. And now, when I go to purchase the Parliament tour tickets, July 2nd is just not for sale. July 1st is, July 3rd is. Nothing on the website says it's closed on Mondays but I'm worried that's the case. Does anyone who's already done this tour see something I'm missing?

I wish I had an answer. I checked and got the same result. I was checking the schedule for the Szentendre boat today and noticed that July 2nd was treated like a holiday with different times. I searched for some sort of holiday and struck out. July is a way off, keep checking. If you need a Plan B, there are all sorts of options.
I'm dining with some locals tonight, I will see if they can tell me what is special about the date. I'm working on a cell phone tonight, which is a pain, so you see if tickets are available the following Monday so you can eliminate that possibility. A lot of museums, etc are closed on Monday.
Hi James:) The only Monday I can seem to buy tickets for is Monday, May 21st. The others don't pop up as options. I guess I'll just rework our schedule to see it on a different day - I was just so happy with the route planning I had already done. Another thing I notice is that the first English speaking tour is sold out nearly EVERY DAY months in advance - I assume it's big bus tour companies taking the entire lot.
Will you be in Budapest in late June?
To anyone in a similar situation - I gave up and reworked my sites so that I'm going on June 30th. I'm not prebuying much of anything for Budapest but if you're interested in touring the Parliament buy your tickets now. English tours seem to sell out weeks in advance. I couldn't find any morning English tours with available tickets and I checked many many many days. I went with an afternoon tour.
I am sitting in Budapest today. Unfortunately the place i stay is booked until October so this will be a two trip year. Three if you count a few days in Janauary...

Well that's interesting. We're planning on visiting on Monday July 30th and tickets don't seem to be available. The 31st are though. Sigh. Should I wait or rejig my itinerary now? The plan was to visit in the morning of the 30th and in the afternoon do a segway tour....
Hmmm....I see what you see. But the 31st morning tour only has one ticket left - did you already get yours? The morning English tour is consistently sold out. There's got to be a story behind it.
No, we leave on the 31st so I was looking for the 30th. There's another website that I initially went to. They only had tickets available until June 5th or so. Perhaps they're not all up yet?? Hoping.

I ran into the same problem for June 4th a Monday. I have been checking for almost a month for it to open. I woke up yesterday at 5am and just by chance I put in June 5th Tuesday and lo and behold there were tickets available. I too had to rearrange my schedule. James E. is a great source of information and could not find anything going on for my date as well. I wrote to our hotel to see if Parliament was sitting on that Monday but he said not that they were aware of.
So glad you changed your timing as well.
It would be interesting and informative to others if James could find out the reason why tickets are not available on some Monday's.
