Butterfly Home Budapest

Has anyone stayed recently at the Butterfly Home? We are attempting to find accommodations in Budapest for 3 nights in July (last minute travel plans) and have booked a room here. On some other travel forums it says that the location has been changed but this is not reflected on their website www.butterflyhome.hu and i have not been succcessful in getting email replies back. If anyone has other suggestions for smaller B&B's or hotels please share. We have found the ones suggested by Rick on Andrassy Ut to be well out of our price range. Thanks!

Never heard of it, but there are much worse locations. Is $110 out of your budget? If not you might look at 7 Seasons, Carat Botique and Roombach; much better locations....

We stayed across the street at the Three Corners Art Hotel and loved the hotel and location. We saw the butterfly hotel at the time but I have no knowledge of its current status. I just wanted to say that if you do stay at the location listed on their website I think you will be in a great location. We really liked the corner hotel and the authentic feeling and convenient location.

Thanks for the input, it is much appreciated. We have decided to just be safe and go with another B&B while visiting. If anyone does have updated information on the new location for the Butterfly Home it would be great to have it added to the guidebook updates section for Budapest. Thanks!

Thanks James, we are wanting to stay in a smaller hotel or B&B instead of an apartment. I think we have a place figured out so feeling better about our schedule.

Bigpolishart76 - maybe you can post an update after your travels in April? In case the location has changed and is different than what is listed in Rick Steve's book? That would be really helpful. Enjoy your trip. We are super excited about our visit in July.

Let me either add to or clear the confusion on the Butterfly Home. The prior Butterfly Home near the Great market was run by Andras Szuhay, son of Lajos and Judit Szuhay who have the excellent B and B Bellevue on the Buda side. Last fall due to a booking error, we wound up with Andras instead of the Bellevue, but it was during the week that he was opening his new property on 1067 Budapest terez krt. 1, having sold the former Butterfly. The new property is "Butterfly Home Penthouse". It is excellent. One block from Oktagon metro on Andrassy, and around the corner from Franz Liszt Square. It seems that the ongoing issue might be he could not get his web site to go with, and I can't find one for the new place. It appears that bookings are either through various booking sites using the new full name, or directly through him if you can find him. The email that we conversed on is butterflyhomebandb@gmail, and that does appear to be his, not the prior property, though if all else fails, one could contact through the aforementioned B and B Bellevue via their website.

We just stayed at the Butterfly Home a week ago and it was GREAT!!! We had the room that overlooked the Liberty bridge and at night it was incredible...The location was perfect and Andor was a most gracious host. I would highly recommend the Butterfly Home. It was a bit intimidating when first coming to the address, no signage and multiple security doors with an old elevator. BUT once we got acquainted with the surroundings we later laughed at our apprehensiveness. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good. We stayed for three nights and walked to the baths across the Liberty bridge one afternoon, which
I would also recommend

We stayed at Butterfly Home last month for 5 days and liked it. Staff is very helpful and good with English. The room was comfortable and comes with safe. The breakfast is very good and the staff is there to help you with your day if you need it. They will help you with transit, such as from or to the airport and you can get tickets for the local baths ahead of time from them. The best part is the location. The Fövám Tér metro and tram stops are a few steps away as is the Liberty Bridge, an easy walk to Buda side. from Fövám Tér there're direct trams to Deák Tér, along the Danube to the parliament area plus the metro line is a few minutes to Keleti train station. Public transit to Momento Park is easy from here as well.

Yes they moved and for the better. They will give you directions.

We would definitely stay there again.

If you want to learn about Hungarian life, we suggest a trip to Museum of Ethnography (Néprajzi Múzeum), the beautiful building behind the parliament. Rick doesn't talk about it much in his book but it was pour favorite stop.
