Budapest: What to book in advance

I'll be in Budapest in early April (arriving on the 6th, which is the day after Easter). Which museums in Budapest should I book in advance to avoid waiting in line?

I asked Google, and their AI said:

House of Terror Museum:

Hungarian National Gallery

Budapest History Museum

Museum of Hungarian Agriculture

They didn't mention the Museum of Fine Arts, which is at the top of my personal list.

Should I trust Google? Or is it okay to wait and buy onsite.

If you ask Google who Mr E of the Rick Steves forum it will tell you that he is a 19th century Buffalo Soldier. It will also tell you to buy advance tickets for the House of Terror Museum without knowing they don’t sell tickets online. The others I believe do. Buy them if it will make you more confident. I wont say that there won’t be a line. I can’t guarantee that, but in April the odds are lower especially after Easter and aftrer the Spring Festival is over. You forgot the Castle Museum and the Hungarian National Museum.

Just walk up and buy the tickets. With over 200 museums of some kind in Budapest, they have enough to go around.

Tickets were easy to get at the Hungarian National Gallery the day I was there in the early October.

The only one that I would really suggest getting tickets ahead of time is the Parliament tour, which I don't see on your list, so maybe you already have that taken care of. Also, the Hospital in the Rock if you're going there, although I don't think you don't need to get it too far ahead of time.

Since the Museum of Fine Arts is at the top of your list, I would probably get tickets ahead of time. I know their tickets are limited, and while you may be okay, you may not. I wouldn't take any chances if it's really important to you to see that.

Ive never bought a ticket in advance for anything other than wine events. Never had a problem. But if I say that then someone will miss something they want to do and will feel guilty. So I didnt say it. Never would.

There was a Renoir exhibit during my Oct, 2023 visit. I bought a timed entrance ticket just under 3 weeks in advance. The ticket was for a 1 hour window of arrival (our 10am ticket allowed entry from 10-11am) and unlimited duration the day of the visit.

We were in Budapest last September. The only sights/tours we booked in advance were the Parliament Building, the Legenda Boat Cruise, and a walking tour by Free Tours.

We visited the Hungarian National Gallery and the House of Terror Museum. We did not buy tickets in advance. There weren't any lines at all. We just walked right up to the ticket booth.
