Budapest Tram System

We're heading to Budapest for XMAS markets and would like to use the tram system to get around. We can't find any decent information on the trams and was wondering if anyone had any advice for using the tram system.

Thanks

Get yourself a map of the city transit system. We bought passes and used the trams and the metro system. For the size city it is, the metro system's also good.

Google maps will give you public transportation (and walking) options, with times and metro/tram/bus numbers for the Budapest system. It is very reliable, easy, and inexpensive.

If you have an unlocked GSM phone you can buy a local SIM to use the Google maps while out and about. We just bought SIM cards and plans from Telenor.hu at the Westend shopping center. We paid less than $50 for 5GB data and 1500 HUF to spend on calls and text messages (when not using the data plan for these) for 30 days, and that was for two phones.

We are currently in Budapest enjoying the city, and the Christmas markets and festivities. Enjoy your time here, too!

For years I wandered around with one of these crammed in my pocket. Don't let the complexity scare you. There is a lot of unnecessary stuff. http://www.mapaplan.com/travel-map/budapest-hungary-city-top-tourist-attractions-printable-street-plan/high-resolution/budapest-top-tourist-attractions-map-04-metro-tube-tram-station-railway-line-bkk-public-transport-system-network-airport-high-resolution.jpg

Best advise. Buy a Travel Card so you don't have to deal with validating tickets.

Your post is sort of old, but if you haven't left yet, and if you tell me where you are staying I can tell you how to get to various places via tram and metro.
