Budapest to Munich transfer

Hi Everyone,
Arriving in Budapest on a river cruise. We need a transfer from Budapest to Munich a few days after end of cruise. Bus and train won't work since one of us is disabled. Any transfer companies you've worked with before??

Thanks for your help.

A transfer usually refers to a relatively short distance. 650 km is not short. If you are seriously contemplating a private car and driver, you can look at Daytrip.com to get a rough idea of the cost.

Lufthansa has direct flights daily. There are also direct trains - check the dbahn website: https://int.bahn.de/en Note that Deutche Bahn has provisions and assistance for disabled passengers, but the Mobility Service Centre must be contacted in advance to ensure the correct arrangements are made.

The thought of driving 400 miles is far from appealing. Please consider flying.

What kind of disability? Disabled people travel by train all over Europe. And the Railjets used on the route are modern and accessible.

And apart from cost, time is also something to consider, it's probably a 8 hour drive or so.

Daytrip.com will set you back $700 for a regular car. If the disability requires more than a regular car .... ??? But if there are 3 of you it may not be much more than 3 plane tickets. I know another service, but I also know it will cost more.

Let me know if you need any suggestions on navigating around Budapest with a disability. Happy to help.

A different question related to travel from Budapest to Munich by train. First, can you purchase these tickets online? I know some countries only allow international ticket purchases in person. Anything to KNOW before purchasing a rail ticket online. Our December date of travel does not appear to be available yet but appreciate any information or tips. Thanks

Yes, you can purchase international train tickets on-line. In fact, I have never heard anywhere you cannot, although you may have to collect the actual tickets in country.

There was a time when I believe you had to pick them up locally. Long gone time. Very easy now. Buy the tickets here. Be sure and get a seat reservation as well: https://jegy.mav.hu/ And unless you want a fully flexible ticket (at maybe twice the cost) buy a few weeks prior to ensure the best price.
