Budapest to Eger

We are taking a train from Budapest to Eger tomorrow. We plan to relax and have massages and sauna etc. we will also check out the town.

We are not into museums but enjoy food wine and walking around. We are staying two nights.

Any great restaurant suggestions?

Any great winery to visit or tasting room?

Any great town to hop off and visit on return to Budapest.

We are not typical travelers and enjoy visiting with locals and resting a lot while on vacation.

I don’t know that it was great, but we enjoyed dinner one evening at the Cherry Etterem & Kavezo. Lovely decor, good food and reasonably priced. We didn’t pursue wine but noticed several wine shops around our hotel, the Senator Haz. Had a nice bowl of gulyas soup at the Senator Haz but no meals other than breakfast. For my money, literally and figuratively, we enjoyed meals in Hungary just about more than anywhere we’ve traveled. Have a great trip.

Highly recommend HBH Bisztro in Eger. Other than that a few hours walking around was enough. Instead of a winery visit, we went to centrum vendeghaz wine shop and purchased some fabulous wines!

Highly recommend saliris resort. Stayed two nights and had a great deal on room and breakfast dinners included along with the many mineral baths both indoor and out.

Pampered with massages, mani pedi and the most fun was nobody spoke English- except front desk clerks!

Excellent visit- loved being the only English speaking guests. Most guests were from Hungary, Czech Republic , Germany, and Russia.

We are unusual travelers and loving three weeks in Budapest!
