Budapest River Cruise

What evening River cruise company does everyone recommend? Should we opt out of the dinner part? Should we book this ahead?

They are all good companies. But I have used Legenda 3 out of 4 times I sort of like the dinner cruises. Whst ever you do, make sure it is after sunset. Not fun in the sun.

There are several but Legenda seems to be the most established and popular, and my wife and I very much enjoyed their 75 minute cruise in April. It was a day cruise, so I have no advice about the dinner ones (my equivalent experience in New Orleans on a business trip -- the dinner cruise food on the faux steamboat is ok but not as good as you would get in a nice local restaurant, but it's fun -- may or may not be transferable!). They have departures hourly (more or less) and it was definitely not necessary to book ahead, but that may be different if you're in high tourist season and wanting a dinner one. The Legenda day cruise offered good multilingual commentary through headsets, a complimentary glass of champagne or other beverage, and seating inside or out (it was good weather so we enjoyed the open top deck). Their dock is very centrally located (but I think that's true of the others as well).

Mister E is this forum's Budapest expert and I defer to his expertise, but I must say that on a lovely April morning, this cruise is very fun in the sun. But in high summer, perhaps not so much!

I only did one in the day. Don't remember the time of year, do remember being inside a plastic bubble with the sun beating in turning it into an oven. But that was just one, maybe an off day.

And, I am no expert beyond what I personally enjoy. There are so many factors, so many personal preferences and personal enjoyments that this is a subject where experts can not exist beyond referencing resources.
