Budapest Retro Museum Review

Just got back from Budapest traveling with our 12 year old son who isn't really into history, art, etc. Would highly recommend Budapest Retro Museum if you're looking for something different to do with your kids. It's an interactive museum so it's okay to touch stuff. The exhibits were well done and visually appealing. You can be a TV anchor, drive a police car, ride a motorcycle, play a video game, etc.

We all really really enjoyed this museum and felt it was important for our son to see this perspective on Hungarian history. There were several Hungarian families touring too and they seemed to like the museum and when asked, said it took them down memory lane.

Thank you sir/ma'am. Yo know I have never been. But someone gave me a ticket for my birthday, so maybe I should use it this week.

Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy exploring this museum. If you see a door, open it. If there's a book on a bookshelf, take it off and look at it. The things not to be touched will be behind acrylic. I found it interesting flipping through student journals with red covers (lower level in bookshelf behind desk). A lady tried explaining it to me, but I'm not sure I fully understood the nature of the journals. Something about kids being in group competitions and they had to make these journals.

BTW - thanks for the advice on the 72 hour pass back in Feb. We extensively used the trams, busses & metro and it gave a break for our feet and not to mention expediting getting from point A to B during our short visit. We were close to the terminus of Tram 2 so the night tram ride was lovely. Another great way to break up the day with kids is the snack break - Ruszwurm, Central Cafe, chimney cake stand all did the trick.
