My daughter and I are heading to Budapest for 3 nights in June. We were thinking of staying at Áurea Ana Palace Hotel. We are open to suggestions for a nice hotel that is not more than 250 a night.
Thank you,
Elizabeth

We stayed at the Anantara for about that, maybe a little more with breakfast. Fabulous in every way.
The Áurea Ana Palace Hotel looks to be a wonderful old period building renovated into a hotel. The location is right adjacent to the Parliament. The area is full of beautiful architecture, some of the best in Budapest. The buildings are primarily government, banking, office, etc and so the sidewalks are not as full of those living in the area. But because there are not as many living in the area it tends to get very, very quiet in the evenings and there are fewer support restaurants and shops.
One popular restaurant that is close is the Hungarikum Bisztró. It gets good reviews in most every tourist guide published these days … I have never been.
If you go here and look for a .png file with the name of the hotel you can see where the hotel is relative to the other things to see in town (the hotel is the big red X). https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14ZOGD8i2grmyjU_slSBdp6PCQEesigdi?usp=sharing
The hotel is close to the 2Tram which will get you along the river front and intersects the 4/6 and the 47/49 Tram and the M1 metro which will get you to the tourist sights and different interesting neighborhoods.
Google gives the hotel a 4.5 which is at the lower end of scores on 4 and 5-star hotels.
The price for a room is also at the low end of the scale for a 5-star hotel. It’s much closer to 4-star hotel costs.
My wife and I stayed in that hotel in 2024. It’s good, as is the nearby restaurant Mr. E mentions. For that, make an online reservation as far as possible in advance as it’s popular.
