I am planning to travel from US to Budapest with my son for Christmas markets after dec 23rd. Other than food are all Christmas ornament and Hungarian handicraft stores still open after Christmas or do they close?
We have been doing research for a 3 month winter trip in 2024/25. Each of the Christmas markets are open for different times. You can google the markets and get the information for this year. Do let us know how it goes. A lot of markets are open until the 31st of Dec, some even into Jan 7th.
The biggest markets, the one at Vorosmarty ter and the one at the Basilica are open until at leas NYE .... but without the food stalls. But if you get there on the 23rd you will get those too.
Ive already done the research and bookmarked a few pages. Maybe it will save you some time.

Interesting, on past years the craft vendors stayed open till 1 Jan buy the good vendors closed on Christmas eve.
This year the big market in Vorosmarty ter the craft vendors closed either the 25th or 26th (not sure) but the good vendors stayed. O actually like this better. Everything at the Basilica market is open, crafts and food.
