This will be our first time in Budapest. Looking for advice on things to see and do along with links for inexpensive walking tours to get an orientation on where everything is at for first day of our trip. I know there are a lot of Christmas markets and wondered if there were favorite/unique ones to try out along with wine/beer tasting tours. We plan to check out one or few bathhouses and try to take in as much Hungarian cuisine as we can. Are there any local artist stores in Budapest similar to Czech made in Prague (local artists.cz)? Thank you!
Wow! So much i could say. But, instead I sent you a PM with some information. Sift through that first.
Where are you staying, what time do you arrive and leave. Plane or train?
Anything in particular you love to see or do on holiday?
65 years or older?
30 years ir younger?
Hello, I would see the Chain bridge. Our hotel was right in front of the bridge. Gresham 4 seasons hotel. Go see the parliament building. We got to tour part of it via from our Viking cruise. The shoes on the Danube is a historic site. Hero’s square is a neat site. I missed the castle and fisherman’s bastion. There is a Peter Falk Columbo statue as well. It’s close to the Parliament. Have fun and enjoy your trip.
I highly recommend Guru Walk Tours. We did two of them and they were excellent. We did the Welcome to Budapest Historic History Walk and the Jewish Getto Walk. The tour guides work for tips so the price was very reasonable. We met them in the square that was within close to Hotel Moments where we were staying.
For the Jewish Quarter tour, here is another to consider. https://jewishtourhungary.com/en. They are the ones the Synagoue sends you to.
Happy New Year.
