Budapest 4 days - where to stay and what to do

My husband and I are going to Budapest for his birthday. We are staying 4 days and I would like a recommendation where to stay and a good restaurant for my husbands birthday. I haven’t planned anything yet what to visit.

Hi, it would help if you could provide us with a budget for your room. How much would you like to pay per night for your hotel?

This thread should help.

I am going to add this link but it probably doesn’t have exactly what you are looking for.

N28 might do; or Rézkakas Bistro Easy Terasz; or Stand Étterem. Budapest has so many good options, so it WILL depend on cuisine and budget and the type of atmosphere you are looking for.

Mr. É’s travel notes might be of use as you begin to plan your trip.

There’s a lot of good info on the Hungary forum.

That hotel list that TexasTravelMom provided above covers the price spectrum, but does it primarily along Andrassy ut (blvd). This is the closest to the sure bet for convenience to tourism and to "real" but there are other locations as well. If none on the list light your fire, come back with more details of what you want.

For the birthday, first pick a hotel, let us know which and there might be something special and close.

We are thinking on staying in Lipótvaros area at Prestige Hotel. I read that is a good location and we are close to a lot of landmarks and restaurants. I made a reservation at Twentysix Restaurant.
Thanks

Twentysix is an interesting restaurant in the heart of party town (but a long way from your hotel). Food is pretty okay, but it's more about the "green" atmosphere. If your plan is to hit the under 30 bars after dinner, good choice.

Be sure to get a public transportation pass as from your hotel to see Budapest you will get good use out of it.
