Where to stay and what to do?

I stayed with BudapestApartmentServices.com last time I was there. Andy Croyden is an Englishman married to a Hungarian. He does a good job.

Have you considered cutting your trip short a day or two elsewhere and spending more than 2 days in Budapest. It's one of my favorite cities and worthy of more time.

Since you have traveled quite a bit, you know the drill.

I guess everyone will have their favorite things and with some luck you will get some answers, but the answers tend to flow more freely with specific questions. Dates are always good, and with two nights the times of arrival and departure become important.

As mentioned, two nights is short for such a large city with so much to see and do. Generally its a good 4 night or longer stay.

But if that is what you are locked into, then I suggest you look at staying at the Intercontinental or the Marriott or the Sofitel or the Four Seasons. Which ever best fits your taste and budget. FrankII suggested the Hotel Moments and that hotel is nice and well located to see the most of the city, but you aren't going to be able to do that. So the ones I suggested put you on the riverfront where you can have two nights of spectacular views and be on the tram line and one connecting tram line that together run between all of the sights that you are going to have time to see. They also put you close to the river boat docks if that is why you are coming.

What to see? My favorite guide book is DK Eyewitness Budapest that you can get on Amazon. Try and get the newest edition, I think it is Sept 2022.

Hello from Wisconsin,
I agree, more than two nights. It is a great city. One of the nicest things about the city is that it is like Chicago, sure there are tourists but the city is so busy the tourists don't get in the way.

I have a handout I can email you that gives and idea of what to do. And where the mass transit will take you. Ask for it from wmcca@hotmail.com

This time last month we spent 3 nights in Budapest. We spent our 2 days wandering around the central area seeing the major sites, going inside some, and eating and drinking along the way. Hotel Moments is in an excellent location and very nice. You should try to spend some time in both Pest and Buda seeing some of the highlights like Parliament and the Castle. If you like wine DiVino Wine Bar across from St. Stephen's Basicila is a great stop. Walk the Gozsdu Udvar - we liked Spíler. You'll like Budapest!
