Not a first timer to Europe but to Hungary. I am curious about experiences going through passport control at Budapest Airport recently since the EES biometrics entry requirements began. We’re connecting through LHR (from the US) to Budapest and trying to figure out the how long the process might take. We’ll be arriving on 5/2 (Saturday) around 1pm, if that helps. I've read everything from 10 minutes to three hours so any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I havent had to do it yet so I cant answer beyond saying that most processes here go remarkably fast. This isnt Munich or Frankfurt. One of the reasons the airport has gotten so many awards over the years.
If someone does pipe up with it took me XX minutes it wont mean much. You are going to need a lot of data points to make as estimate.
I would worry more about deciding bus or taxi for the 40 min trip to your hotel.
