My girlfriend and I are visiting for 6 days in October-- and I just found this image online while looking at the city.
Does James or anyone else know what that balloon is? Can one go up there? If so, is it worth it?

Sorry, but i have never seen it and i am pretty certain that the balloon is no more. There is this company: http://www.holegballon.com/hot-air_balloon_rides but I don't think they go over the city. Don't suppose your girlfriend would be into driving a Russian Tank?

Joe, it seems clear from the photo that this was a tethered balloon. And if it wasn't tethered, it was an irresponsible pilot. So I don't think you're missing much. Climb a church tower or go to the Fisherman's Bastion. I trust you read about the 2014 hot air balloon disaster in Virginia, United States of America. Extreme sports aren't all they're cracked up to be.
