Any opinions between these five hotels?

We are staying six nights in early May before our river cruise. My preference would be for a place with a washing machine, but I have other criteria as well ( king bed, living area, upscale, fridge, quiet). I’m a bit frustrated with the lack of photos on hotel websites, and unfortunately there aren’t many reviews of some of my particular suites. So, I figured I’d ask here if anyone knows anything positive or negative about these particular final five. I’ve scoured reviews, but trust this forum so much more. Thank you in advance.
1. Hotel Moments, junior suite or Andrassy suite ( which strangely is listed as smaller than the junior suite?). Not many photos, so have no idea about clothing storage, and don’t know if they offer laundry anywhere or if there is any public laundry nearby.
2. Eurostars Ambassador, junior suite. Smallest of the options, but nicely set up I guess. Some recent reviews about thin walls and temperature controls. Again, not sure about laundry.
3. Hilton Garden, one bedroom suite with balcony, lots of complaints about weird smells is one of the reasons I’m hesitating. They have a laundry room, and I know it’s generic looking, but rooftop terrace.
4. Mamaison Izabella, grand deluxe apartment, or jr suite- both have washing machines. They say some have balconies and some are renovated. I would ask for both ( fingers crossed). Otherwise, looks kind of dingy. I can’t believe they have regular coffee machines and not nespresso! Am I that spoiled?!
5. Corinthia, deluxe or grand residence ( I can’t tell the difference), or a jr suite with exec lounge, though that doesn’t have washing machines and like the others. I do know you need to walk far to get to the residences, but not sure how far that is.

I've stayed at the Hotel Moments. I didn't have a suite but an upgraded room on the top floor. I remember it because the wall with the window, which covered almost the entire wall, was at an angle. Motorized curtains. Very quiet as I faced the side of the hotel. No noise from inside the hotel.

I had a refrigerator in the room and either a coffee machine or a kettle. I forget which one.

The included breakfast is very nice. There is a coffee and water machine--help yourself--in the lobby. It's free and available 24/7.

They don't have a laundry room but I believe they have a laundry service.

In general, excellent service and clean. Great location. I'd definitely stay there again.

It was recommended to me by Mr. E, our resident Texgarian.

Since I live here, I don’t stay in many hotels. Occasionally yes, the Corinthia was one two years ago. But I keep my comments down to location and maybe what I have heard about them. But do keep that in perspective, just what I have heard. My favorite right now the UPHotel but that didn’t make your list.

Hotel Moments is always spoken well of by those that I have known that stayed there. I have been in it and it is a very beautiful old building. The location really can not be better for tourism. It’s a 10 in that regard. I also hear its pretty expensive. There is a self service laundry about a 10 minute walk away and full service about a 7 minute walk away. https://maps.app.goo.gl/S7qNMZXLG2s8FLcM9

Eurostars Ambassador: I have never met anyone who stayed there. I have always been curious about it. I walk past once in awhile but never gone it. The location is pretty darn good. It has the advantage of being a bit off the tourist trail, but close to Andrassy ut and the M1. Its also close to one of the Market Halls which is a great one on a Saturday morning. I think it’s a grand location. A little better situated for laundry service with a full service a block away and self service less than 10 minutes walk https://maps.app.goo.gl/8qa8iBfdLDCEHW8Y9

Hilton Garden: technically a good location when considering walking times. But not one of my favorite streets. You are staying a week, I would stay on a prettier street.

Mamaison Izabella the location isn’t what the others are. I think you get a bad vibe from it so ……

Corinthia Grand Residence. As near as I can tell its in the same building. Maybe it has a different entry door. But you are in luck as there is a self-service laundry 2 minutes away. https://maps.app.goo.gl/RCegzW1zkC8aup2M6 An absolutely lovely hotel A tad inconvenient but the quality of the hotel makes up for it. Like I said, its where I stay when I am in trouble.

Oh, of all the laundry the two closest to the Hotel Moments are the only ones I have used. Mostly the full service which is where I take the stuff I dont want to destroy. Go there a lot.

I stayed at the Corinithia last year, I found it to be a very nice hotel in a convenient location.

"very nice" ???? Its freeking gorgeous. It's where I go when I am in trouble. I just wish it were 300m closer to Andrassy ut.

Mr. E, I thought Corinthia was only a five minute walk from Andrassy…that’s what google says!
Btw, I did ask Corinthia a question about the residences and they were careful to mention they are in a different building, but the access is through the hotel.

300m would put it 2 minutes to Andrassy is all. More sarcasm than need.

The main building of the hotel is this magnificent old 1896 hotel in French Renaissance style that is impressive in size and detail. So, to reach the residence in another building but through the hotel make me wonder if its behind and across the street.

Carla

I love it when I succeed. I found the residences.
Here is what they look like. https://corinthiagroup.com/property/budapest-26-luxury-apartments/ I am certain that they are absolutely beautiful but the building does have a bit of a motel feel in the photos.

This is the Corinthia Hotel: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ehVRQyS4sc8d3s6f7 Located at Erzsébet krt. 47. Thiis is the front of the Corinthia Hotel: https://maps.app.goo.gl/s1oEJAg9ev3gsorZ8 Stunning building outside and inside (you can spin the photo around and see the street, etc).

This is the Corinthia Residence: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Jc42dbZ5jWPmLDtC7 Located at Hársfa utca 53-55. This is the front of the Corinthia Residence and the back of the Hotel: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RPtMGZnU5dLjc3aDA (you can spin the photo around)

You can walk out the back of the hotel at Ground Floor level, or it appears there is a bridge at the First Floor level and I bet there is a tunnel too because the marketing discusses direct access to the spa. By the way, the spa rivals many of the public ones. Incredible.

Here is how you would get to the M1 Metro to head to river (our you walk down Andrassy ut instead of the M1) https://maps.app.goo.gl/wgDxMLZzAMFWjJmB6

On the way you will walk past Ferdinánd Monarchia Étterem …. I like it. Very simple but good Czech tucked away in a basement: https://maps.app.goo.gl/YCxRg1WLiVB9hVvdA

The hotel is at Kiraly utca which is one of the entries to the Jewish Ghetto.

Then a few of my favorites close on on the way to other places.
- Kiraly utca 42 is my favorite wine bar
https://maps.app.goo.gl/F3rFNPCnk3jGKSu39
- two of my favorite breakfast places
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ziFd9PJxr7eh1uWo6 and
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ttF11CT5R48gq5hM6
- two very interesting old market halls (both best on Saturday morning)
https://maps.app.goo.gl/FHC7GnbxnHTx2hJ7A and
https://maps.app.goo.gl/YXoUvXFFnsWhKyMa6
- a laid back Eszpresszó (sort of a cold war version of a British
public house … home made food and cheap beer)
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZBqPj2vAwiDWis7b7
- of course my favorite restaurant (right now)
https://maps.app.goo.gl/dDkXruC9tbaLwL2s6 or another great one

@Mr. E, I don’t know how I missed your reply. I need to change the email address I use for this forum!
I apologize for not acknowledging it earlier. Thank you for all the maps and suggestions.
However, I actually decided to take a chance on Mamaison Izabella. I will let everyone know what it is like.
The residences Corinthia had pretty universally terrible reviews, once I figured out how to separate them from the regular hotel reviews. It was hard to believe, and the hotel was very nice in responding to some of my questions. But ultimately I decided on Mamaison because they said all the suites had been updated, they now have nespresso, and the reviews were very good and they responded to all my questions. Crossing my fingers!
The only hotel that never responded to my question was Hotel Moments. I sent three emails to them. So, although it definitely is beautiful and well located, it didn't have the laundry or the customer service that I wanted.

Carla, I think you chose well. The Corinthia Residence looked a bit like a Motel 6 to be honest. But I am sure it was nice. The main hotel is pretty amazing. I was there last weekend for a wine tasting event that took 3 ball rooms to handle the vinyards that were present. Beautiful place.

While you are in town

4 - 10 Budapest Beer Week https://bpbw.hu/en/
Never been, no idea. Its held in a very interesting place on the edge of town. If I were younger I wouldnt miss it. At my age I might show up in the afternoon for a few hours. https://maps.app.goo.gl/WBRvv4YxxWh38jUp8

9: Dance House Day, Liszt Academy (see traditional Hungarian dance in one of the most beautiful and historic venues in Budapest. You at least have to do the tour, but this would be better. For some reason they didnt sell tickets to the upper seats so this may sell out fast. https://koncert.zeneakademia.hu/programok/2026-05-09-a-tanchaz-napja-13899

10 April - 10 May: Theater Festival. The more that I read about this the more interesting it becomes. The performance companies are from all over Europe (heavy on Eastern Europe) and the program is really impressive if you are into theater. Performances are selling out, so its another to decide on soon. https://mitem.hu/en/programme/performances

9, 10: Budapest 100 Architectural and Cultural Open House. Walking tours of the best architecture in Budapest. https://budapest100.hu/

Take a look at the theater list. The opera will have something while you are in town but the other theaters are fun too. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/hungary/updated-budapest-performance-venue-list
The magnificent Vígszínház theater is doing Pride and Prejudice with English surtitles.
The Operett theater has three different productions
The Maddach has Mama Mia playing with English subtitles.

Thank you! Yes, we are going to the Hungarian folk dance at the Liszt, on Saturday. Still haven’t figured out how to reserve a tour of the Liszt though. Their website is difficult. But since we are there for a week, I’m sure we’ll get to see it. It’s a top priority. Thank you for the additional theatre list, I’ll take a look. I definitely want to see the Freddy Mercury exhibit at the House of Music too!

I am very interested in Budapest 100, and joined their Facebook group. Their website isn’t updated with 2026 info yet. I’m not sure if you sign up for particular houses, or how it works.

So much to see and do! I have to work on our daily itinerary next, just waiting to hear from some inquiries I made for a private Art Nouveau tour. I made a spreadsheet and map of all the sites mentioned in this forum, so some places are not on a regular walking tour itinerary.
