The Hungarians love their wine. I can think of 4 signficant events between now and the end of the year.
The latest to pop up is a Rose Wine Picnic at City Park. Unfortunately for me it takes place just exactly when I will be out of Budapest for week (9 through 11 June). But thought someone might be there about the right time.

Nope, not in June but any info you have for the end of October would be appreciated. I’ll be back bothering you with specific questions later I’m sure, Mr E. I’m doing a RS tour that is in Budapest Oct 26-29 and I’m planning to stay on until November 1st or 2nd, then going to Vienna.

September 16, WineLovers at the Corinthia Hotel. I enjoy these. There is also one on the River on 27 July and one at the interncontiental (outside) on the 1st of June.
October 2, Palinka and Sausage Festival at Buda Castle (i could only confirm the date on one site, so best to wait a month or two to plan around it).
October 6 and 7, the horse race at Heroe's Square. Everyone that I know that has gone has loved it. They even close down the upper end of Andrassy ut for a small fair.
October 23, celebration of the Revolution of '56. Lots going on including the required protests from both sides. A good cultural experience.
