After Budapest what Hungarian city is best for elegant, graceful architecture

I'm looking for ideas for visiting a few other places this summer in addition to Budapest, and while I have some day trip ideas, such as Godollo, Estztergom, Eger, etc. I'm wondering what other Hungarian city would have a nice selection of beautiful, pre WW1 era buildings, not just one or two special buildings, but nice elegant neighborhoods and or city center. Perhaps not a day trip but another place for an overnight stay.

The list provided by Mr E covers many of the important places to see in Hungary beyond Budapest. One additional spot is the town of Szentendre located about an hour north of the BP and accessible by car or the HEV commuter train (the terminus for the HEV is at Batthyany Ter/Square). If you go, stop in to the Margit Kovacs museum. She was a Hungarian sculpture that specialized in whimsical figurines (my personal faves) as well as many other styles. The town, which sits alongside the Danube, has a Serbian look about it and feels like an artist commune. I try to go every visit to BP but didn't make it this past October. Enjoy your stay in lovely Budapest and Hungary!
