Sure, that all works, but to make life easier work out your routes each day. You can always adlib along the way, but, for me at least it is easier with an outline to get started. It doesn’t matter how you get from A to B, I love the trams but walking is good too. No bad neighborhoods here and every trip from A to B is guaranteed to pass through interesting architecture and offer stops you hadn’t planned on. For your evening at the theater, I couldn’t quite guess your dates so I think maybe I am a day too many, but here is the list I would choose from.

Thursday 17 September (maybe you have a morning train from Vienna?)

  • Liszt Academy: Miklós Szenthelyi & MÁV Symphony Orchestra / The Grand Hall is one of the most beautiful venues in the city.
  • Vígszínház: The Great Gatsby / A Hungarian "Broadway" theather. Many performances have English subtitles. A stunning venue and a real Hungarian experience
  • Budapest Operetta Theatre: Not published yet but there will be performances in Sept. A lovel old Broadway Musicals sort of theater This is a bit more of a tourist venue than is Vígszínház. Most every performance has English subtitles
  • Opus Jazz: Not much published for September yet, but will be.

Friday 18 September (maybe you have a morning train from Vienna?)

  • Opera: Dancingly Yours (collection of contemporary one-act works). So many good seats available that I am making the wild guess that this was never sold for Hungarians with season tickets.
  • Budapest Operetta Theatre: Not published yet. https://operett.hu/musor
  • Opus Jazz: Not much published for September yet. https://opusjazzclub.hu/
  • Spinoza: Friday Evening Klezmer Concert

Saturday 19 September

  • Opera: Dancingly Yours (collection of contemporary one-act works). So many good seats available that I am making the wild guess that this was never sold for Hungarians with season tickets.
  • Budapest Operetta Theatre: Not published yet. https://operett.hu/musor
  • Vígszínház: The Great Gatsby (a real Hungarian experience opportunity)
  • Opus Jazz: Not much published for September yet. https://opusjazzclub.hu/

Sunday 20 September

  • Opera: Le Nozze di FIgaro (The Marriage of Figaro)
  • Hungarian House of Music: Gergely Sárközy's Solo Recital (Classical Guitar). This will be a 100% Hungarian audience.
  • Budapest Operetta Theatre: Not published yet. https://operett.hu/musor
  • Vígszínház: The Great Gatsby (a real Hungarian experience opportunity)
  • Opus Jazz: Not much published for September yet. https://opusjazzclub.hu/
  • Royal Palace of Gödöllő: MOLIERE: TARTUFFE. My guess is that you will be the only English speaker there. But what a great way to see the palace. I know nothing about this to be honest, just found it. https://kiralyikastely.hu/esemenynaptar.html?aktualis=1

Monday 21 September

Tuesday 22 September (maybe you are departing?)

  • Opera: Le Nozze di FIgaro (The Marriage of Figaro)
  • Liszt Academy: Danubia Orchestra (Tale from Hungary) excellent venue. https://concert.lisztacademy.hu/programs?idopont=2026-09-22
  • Vigado: Concert by Endre Hegedűs and Katalin Hegedűs (Piano duo recital for four hands on two pianos). Another outstanding period venue.
