Yet another question regarding fall ferries (the return of the son of autumnal boats)

We want to ferry from Samos to Patmos on Thurs. Oct. 2nd then do the reverse return on Wed. Oct. 8th. The ferry name seems to be the 'Nissos Kalymnos'. Despite a mountain of research our genuine efforts have been to no avail (sound of banging head). I mean, that the responses we have received from numerous sources (travel forums, tourism offices, tourism boards, supposed specialists, municipal offices and more) have been misleading and/or contradictory. Parakalo, might anyone have a definitive answer about this ferry schedule? *I recall one witty travel writer's remark about this topic back in the eighties: "Greek Ferry schedules? They are but a romantic fantasy!" Sigh..... Efxaristo. I am done. The end.

Thanks again Lee, I appreciate your input, including on LP. The problem now is that the Samos municipal government folks are claiming that in addition to the Tues/Friday departures, there are additional ones from Samos on Thursdays at 2:45. For me to move forward with critical villa rental and flight arrangements, I gotta know whether those supposed Thursdays are for real. I know ferry schedules can change and yes, we've made a rookie error here by arranging our itinerary so tightly, but we've already lost one desired villa rental on Santorini due to this delay in ferry clarification and don't wanna see the other Patmos one fly out the window on us too. Might there be any chance of a submarine transfer? Just askin'.....

Sorry, the sub's in drydock.

I would not count on the Thursday departure. Adjust your itinerary accordingly. Even if it were available, there's a good chance that by October it will have been cancelled because of the lack of demand. Fuel costs are extremely high to justify more departures than are absolutely needed.

Once again I thank you for your helpful, wise thoughts. Really, merci Lee. One would not normally think to factor in fuel-cost efficiency, so your input here is very important. We will make a good decision based on this information. The anxiety around all this has been the result of us wanting to get into certain villas, ones with particular photogenic appeal--we are taking our baby steps in making our long-awaited travel memoirs. The book will be foto-driven coz we have decades worth of backlog, and my research has been all about trying to rent some Greek island places with great visual appeal. I just published my teaching memoirs through the University of Toronto's POD department a few weeks ago (sound of trumpets and cheering crowds), so the idea of a similar travel book gets more likely with each passing trip.
How about youself, any plans to visit Greece or anywhere else this year?
Btw, the next time that you see Rick out there in the NW while you're both hunting sasquatches, please tell him that I was the guy who many yrs ago suggested Folegandros (as a possible new destination for Steves trips) to one of his lady guides as she led her group through Gimmewald, Switzerland and crossed paths with my wife and I. AND also that we spent Xmas at the Costa Rican lodge next door to the one where he and his family were a few yrs back. If you two ever come up to Toronto, I can get you a few minutes with Mayor Rob Ford (rolls eyes).
cheers
Gregg

I have what some might label an obsessive connection to Santorini, so if you need any other hotel/villa recommendations let me know and I'll try to help you figure it out. I will need to know your maximum daily accomodation budget as well as any amenities/facilities you might require.
