Wineries in greece

Going on the Greece tour in March. I would like to buy a case of wine for a graduation party/gift. Recommendations for a good winery? Thank you

Talk about open ended question. Need some clarity. WHERE in Greece are you going to be? It is not a small country. Second do you understand the difficulties of shipping a case of wine to youself? Does your state permit that? It will be expensive but I would have the vendor do the shipping. And the current import fees will affect the price.

If you find a wine that you like, I would check with the winemaker to see if it is distributed in the US. If so, who imports it. Your local wine store should be able to get the importer to ship them a case. Good luck.

Are you going on the RS tour? I remember doing a wine tasting in a wine shop in Nafplio but it doesn’t look to be on the itinerary now. We have shipped wine home from Italy and Portugal. It can get complicated and expensive. The easiest way is to put a couple of bottles in your checked baggage. Frank has good suggestions and good luck.

We are going on the RS Greece tour. We had some wine shipped from Sicily it wasn't too complicated. We were at a winery during our tour so maybe that is the reason. Very accommodating.

I recommend you have a look at Troupis Winery in the Peloponnese (www.troupiswinery.gr). They are a family-run enterprise that grow their grapes in a unique cool microclimate on the high plain near Tripoli and use organic procedures to create some excellent wines (and no - they are not paying me to say that!).
They do actually have a distributor in the US, so if you find that you like them, you should be able to get them at home too.
