Our group of 6 is spending a week in Naxos in Oct 2025. We’ve finalized our hotels to either the Hotel Grotta or the Kymata Hotel. It’s hard to choose! Any advice or suggestions? Thank you!
We thoroughly enjoyed Hotel Grotta! Exemplary hospitality; beautiful rooftop bar at sunset; immaculately clean room; comfortable bed; easy walk to town. And "Mama's Breakfasts" are truly the BEST in the universe! Loved absolutely everything about this family owned hotel. Highly recommend!
Another upvote for Hotel Grotto. We stayed for three nights in April of 2019. Very nice room with patio and view, close to town, great breakfasts and wonderful hosts.
Thanks to everyone for your feedback. It is much appreciated.
We have stayed at Kymata. It a family owned hotel and is about 100 meters from St George beach. Our room had a 180 degree sea view all the way along the coast to the ferry port.
As I recall the breakfast was included. It is a 10 minute stroll along the headland into Naxos town.
If the beach is an important factor for you then Kymata is a good choice.
We also stayed at Kymata and really liked it. The two hotels are very different locations. We liked being able to walk to the beach and into town.
So you can see my dilemma! I’ve read such great things about Grotta but it does seem a bit further out. And my concern on Kymata is that, unless we’re in the top level rooms with the terraces, the lower level rooms sound very small with tiny balconies. Hmmm … in the end there’s no bad choice.
We did not have one of the two top level rooms at Kymata. Indeed the balcony is small but the view was great and the proximity to the beach is a winner.
I am trying to decide between those two hotels myself for family of 4! Did you decide?
And for those who posted here, how are the locations different between Grotta and Kymata? Thanks in advance!
avsarbin Kymata is about 100 meters from St George beach. We made sure that we booked a seaview room. Location is great and you can walk into Naxos town along the headland which takes about 10 minutes.
Grotta is on the other side of Naxos town. Its on top of a hill with great sea views. To get to Grotta you have to walk uphill along the main street, take your first left to enter Grotta.
Or you can walk up a fairly substantial hill on a dirt rocky path. This is the quickest way from Naxos town up to Grotta. You will need a flashlight to go up that hill in the dark.
My wife and I will be in Naxos in Oct as well and we booked at Secret Legend Suites 3 nights
I ended up booking Hotel Grotta for our stay in October 2025. Thanks to everyone for your input.
