Where to stay one night on arrival

My 15 year old son and I will be meeting up with one of our members around 3pm on Sat, Sept 24th. We are looking for a place to stay this one evening until we grab our other two members that arrive the next morning at 8am.

There doesn't seem to be many choices right by the airport and honestly, even though it'll be a short amount of time, would rather spend the night near food, happenings and/or maybe a beach to enjoy. Anybody have any suggestions? (Not the Sofitel)

Note: We will be coming back to Athens for 3 nights later on our trip and will more than likely stay in the Plaka district

I haven’t stayed at St. Thomas B&B but have read many recommendations on this forum over the last 5 years. It has a pool, close by restaurants, beach? and 12 mins to the airport. https://www.stay-in-athens.com/
We spent 4 nights in Athens at Hotel Hera. It was centrally located, well appointed, excellent breakfast and kind staff.

Also consider taking the 25-minute airport bus ride to the nearby port of Rafina to stay at the Avra Hotel. This would be a pleasant location to spend the afternoon followed by dinner in a seafront restaurant.

I believe Avra also offers its own FREE airport shuttle at regular times 24/7 -- at least so far this season, unless something has changed. The only requirement is that when you book a room, you must at the same time specify when you need a shuttle from the airport, and back to it ... this is so their bus drivers can plan their schedule.

I also think Rafina would be your best option for the night especially with the free shuttle from Avra Hotel

Since you already have Athens planned Rafina might be a change of pace.

Take a room at the Avra hotel at the port of Rafina. (It's about 110€ breakfast included)
When booking you must inform the hotel that you are taking their free shuttle. (on 24th in the Airport to hotel direction)
Once at the hotel inform the reception at what time you will take the shuttle to the airport the next morning.
The hotel is good (for one night), if you are lucky you will have a small balcony with a seaview.

Right next to the hotel there are a few restaurants on the harbor and at the Central Square, which is very lively on Saturdays.
Personally I prefer the restaurants at this square with their more local atmosphere rather than those of the port
