where to stay in santorini

Hi Team,

we are travelling to greece in mid march and will be in Santorini for 2 days. Please suggest which place is best to stay in santorini-oia/thira/fira.

We are considering following points for choosing accomodation:

  1. which place is best connected to airport
  2. public transportation, as we will not be renting a car
  3. places to see around , connectivity from the hotel/apartment 4, cliff side

Also it would be of great help if you could suggest a possible itinerary for 2 days.

Focus your hotel search on Fira. It's the most central village and is the island's social/commercial hub. The Santorini's excellent bus service and taxi company are based there. There are lots of shops, hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes in Fira. Visit Oia, Akrotiri (the Archaeological Site, not the village), Kamari Beach and the Museum of Prehistoric Thera.

Use the filter system at www.booking.com to find a hotel that meets your requirements at the price you want to pay.

I agree with Lee about staying in Fira.

We stayed in Fira (in October) at the Keti Hotel. The hotel is on the cliffside with great views and terrace right outside the room and a nice breakfast. The Keti is a walk down but they offer a shuttle (for 10e each way) pickup from airport and that includes someone carrying your bags up/down. The walkway to the Keti is about 2 blocks from the bus terminal. On arrival day we walked around Fira. One of the days we took a bus north to Oja (after touring Museum of Prehistoric Thera nearby), and another day took a bus south to Akrotiri in the morning and in afternoon another bus west to black sand beach at Karmari. Buses are about 2e each way.

If you do decide to stay in Oia check out Captain John's, we stayed in the largest room the had which has their own private seating area. It is about a ten minute walk or less to the main part of Oia, but the prices and view cannot be any better! http://www.captainjohn-oia.gr/
