I've just learned that the Greek civil servant's union (ADEDY) and the main private sector union (GSEE) will hold a joint 24 hour general strike on May 17, 2017 to protest the austerity measures parliament will be voting on that day. [See:

My wife and I will be arriving in Athens that day for a planned vacation. What problems should I expect? Will there be problems with arriving air traffic? Will there be problems getting thru passport control? What will be the best way to get from the airport into Athens? I know strikes are frequent in Greece, but I don't know what to expect.
What are the possible travel problems resulting from planned May 17 strike?
Taxi drivers, bus drivers, air traffic controllers, airport employees, ferry boat crews and Metro crews, all could potentially be affected by a strike if they feel a need to show solidarity to a particular striking contingent. Public transit could come to a halt.
Although this is "possible", it's unlikely to happen on such a large scale.
The lines at the airport for taxis are long. Still we got a taxi for 38 euro to our Air BNB.
