Visit in end Mar Query

Hi
I and my wife are planning to visit Athens on 19th March and Santorini from 20-23rd March.
Can someone guide us about the weather? Will the shops, winerines, local sightseeing places and restaurants be open at that time. What should we be prepared for this trip.
Thanks
Deepak

Santorini will be VERY quiet so early in the year. Most businesses don't open until around the week before Greek Easter, which is May 1, 2016. It will also be very cold and wet then. Bring warm clothes.

I've spent time in Greece during March for the last several years. The weather tends to be mixed - it can be sunny and warm enough to sit out for lunch but it can also be very wet.

Athens will be fine and everything is open. It's a nice time to be there because the sites are quieter and not as hot as in high summer.

Lee is right about Santorini. When I was there in March about five years ago it was really quiet. Few restaurants were open and I was often the only person eating in the ones that were. Almost all the tourist shops were closed, except if a cruise ship was in when some would open for an hour.

So, you won't get much bustle or night life at that time of year. You will still get spectacular views though!
