Viewing the Corinth Canal

I will be driving from the Athens airport to Nafplio. Is there a place along the highway where we can pull over and park to view the Corinth Canal? Maybe from the bridge? Thanks.

Close to the bridge there are several parking places where you can park your car. From there you can walk up to the bridge and cross it on foot. You can’t park your car on the bridge, even slowing down your speed when you cross the bridge will not be appreciated by locals.

Yeah, easy parking on either side. Walk across. Technically, you don't drive over the bridge en route to Nafplio. You will have to exit the main freeway to get to the walkable bridge. We stopped at a Souvlaki place on the south side of the bridge, drove over it and parked in a grocery store parking lot, then walked over the bridge, and then continued on our way

Thanks. Is the turn off marked? possibly in English? I have found coordinates for the car park 37°55'33.65"N, 22°59'38.61"E but i don't see what exit off E94 to use?

Totally agreed with the comments upon. I d like also to complete that the two other bridges of Isthmia and Posidonia are visit worthy.
At Posidonia bridge area you can see the ancient ''diolkos'', via this cobble street the ancient seamen used to transfer their boats by carrying them. Isthmia is also a nice quiet area on the other side of the canal. View is spectacular from both sides.
If you are lucky you will watch boat sailing, but at the moment keep in mind that the canal is closed after a series of landslides made it unnavigable.

You need to take the exit to Corinth-Loutraki. It s the first right after the tolls.
Right before and after there are large parking areas. Do not worry about it.

Jeff, yes, there is an exit, and in English -- this "Tiny url" https://tinyurl.com/zekuft9 gives u a FAB map (click & it gets huuuge) that shows how it works-- you'll be on the Big Green HIghway coming in to the Canal area --the Canal cannot be seen from that large elevated highway. The Exit for the canal will either be "Corinth" or maybe "Isthmus" (the tiny area bordering the Canal) .. at your Rental agency make them give you a paper map, and tell you what the correct sign will be.

A Tip in general about driving Greek highways -- the signage is not for the unfocused. American highway design is so used to the Distracted Driver, that it gives you many many reminder -- i,e. "Exit 42 to Springfield 1 mi, " "Exit 42 to Springfield 1/2 Mi", Exit 42 to Springfield 1/4 mi" etc etc In Greece, it's One and Done. YOur First alert will be a sign in Greek -- ΣΠΆΡΤΗ -- then about 500 yards on, the English sign SPARTA, then BOOM! there's the turnoff!! So keep eyes peeled, have car companion ditto.

AS long as you're stopping on the way to Nafplio, about 15 miles S. of the CAnal, on BIg Green Highway, exit to Right just 5 miles or so to the delightful ANCIENT NEMEA. it's the OLympics "runner-up" a Sacred Games Site that was neglected/overgrown for 2,000 years, then rediscovered, excavated, authentically repaired to awesomeness. https://nemeangames.org YOu'll see TEmple ruins, Columns, small superb museum -- AND THe best stadium imaginable... you can put your feet in the starting-blocks used 2,0o0 years ago!! Locals "revived" the Nemean Games in 1996 and now every 4 years, thousands of people world-wide compete, in Greek costume. In June 2022 (delayed by pandemic) will be the newest revival - stop to see the excitement around this event. A bonus - its well-staffed... and NO tour-bus crowds!

Follow the directions from those who know!!! I wanted to see the canal and I figured I would see it from the highway and maybe take the next exit to stop and get a good look. In reality, even with GPS, I drove over it twice and never even knew it!!
