Three friends want to fly from Athens to Metorea or location close by...then travel to Metorea. Any advice, please?

I don't think you'll find a closer airport than Athens!
You'll need to take a bus via Trikala which takes 4.5 hours. The timetable is here

We drove to Meteora from Athens in March. We stopped at Delphi on the way. It's a long drive, bus or train ride.
I don't think there are any very good air options.

I don't know options. But if you don't mind a small challenge, drive there and have the freedom to go anywhere else. We drove from Athens to Metorea and went to Delphi on the way south.

I leave in a week. My husband and I are flying from Crete to Ionnina. We plan to pick up a car and drive the rest of the way. I think it is 1.5 to 2 hours. After seeing Meteora and driving back to Ionnina, we fly out to Athens the next day. I just looked up the flight on Traveloctity. I am not sure this is the best way to do things, but we thought it best based on the timetable of the trains. Good luck!
