This travel question was addressed in this forum last year, with hints that an easier transfer would be forthcoming -- or conversely that the trains and buses might cut their schedules if the economy worsened. Does anyone know if there's been any progress? I will be in Greece in Mid-March and want to visit Meteora and Delphi, planning to take the 8:30 am train from Athens to Kalambaka and overnight there so I'll have 1.5 days for the monasteries. Traveling from Kalambaka to Delphi seems possible by train from Kalambaka to Levadia, and bus from Levadia to Delphi. I have to rely on public transport and don't want to use guided tours. Suggestions?
I don't know of any shortcut or special news, so I'd trust your research so far, and re-confirm onward schedules in each town when you arrive. Greek (KTEL) bus schedules are notoriously changeable and hard to confirm in advance.
Thanks, Laura, for confirming my information and the valuable heads-up for KTEL.
