Transportation from Blue Star ferry port up to town of Fira

What is the best transportation method of getting to our airbnb in Fira town from the Blue Star ferry port. We are a family of 4 and will be arriving there in early June at 2:30pm. Do we have to take a gondola and then a taxi or are there taxies right at the port? Is it best to have this prearranged. Looking for the easiest and least expensive option.

There is no 'gondola' at the ferry port, just a road. The cable car system is at a different port, the one used for tendering the independent cruise ship passengers ashore. At the ferry port there will be a bus waiting to take you into Fira or you can hire a taxi or sign up online for a shuttle van service such as "Hoppa". If you don't know where your hotel is located it's best to hire a taxi so the driver can call ahead for directions.

My understanding is that buses will be pretty crowded in June. I don't know how many they normally have waiting in port, or how long you typically have to wait. We arranged a ride through our hotel in Santorini, but since you're staying in an airbnb, maybe you could use a service like Welcome Pickups. I've seen others recommend it, and it seems to have a lot of great reviews on TripAdvisor. We're actually taking advantage of this when we arrive and depart Athens. For the two of us, it's 38 Euros for a trip between Athens airport to city center - the same cost for a taxi. But it includes gratuity and a little welcome bag. You can always tip more if you want. They also offer tickets for tours, wifi hotspot (seems people might be better off bringing their own for the price), or the driver can actually give you a tour, too. After you book your ride online, they send you a confirmation, and about 4 days prior to your pickup, they'll email you with your driver's information and photo. You can also include a profile photo of yourself so they know who to look for.

Have a great vacation!
