Can anyone recommend a transfer service they used from Heraklion Airport to Heraklion city center, where my hotel is? I was hoping not to use the bus since there will be 4 of us with suitcases. I realize there are taxis there but was looking for something that I could possibly prepay.

While neither Uber or Bolt operates in Crete, you could look into Welcome Pickups They arrange transfers all over the world. (They also have an app.)
I've used them in Athens. The drivers were on time, spoke English, and you knew the price before the ride. They're taxis but everything is done through Welcome Pickups. They will meet you as you exit baggage claim.
If you search this forum you'll see them mentioned a great deal.
For Heraklion, choose "Crete" from the dropdown menu.
