Transavia Airlines - limited time to make connection

Hello all, I recently booked a one way flight online with KLM. Heraklion, Crete via Amsterdam to Vancouver. There is a 90 minute stopover at Schipol. The 1st leg is with Transavia airlines. I will need to check a bag and that is causing me a great deal of anxiety. An online representative has said that the bag will not be checked through and that I will need to get the luggage at the Amsterdam airport and recheck it with KLM. I really need help with this as I’m not familiar with the airport. Does anybody know if the luggage carousel will be close enough to the KLM kiosk for me to make my connection in 90 minutes? Will I have to go through more security and/or customs?
I appreciate your input.

I can understand your concerns. As close as I can determine the baggage carousels are on the lower (basement) floor. It's a large airport with lots of services, one of which is remote baggage drop-off locations throughout the airport, but to use one you will need to have your boarding pass, so check in online the day before. For international flights drop-offs are allowed until 60 minutes before departure.

Is this on a single ticket all the way, or two separate tickets?

Sometimes the things a customer service rep tells you may not always be true. In this case, I'd try calling again, for a second opinion.

This boils down to: How bad would it be if you miss your connection? How comfortable are you with that risk? What are your other options?

Schipol isn't an awful airport, but if what you've been told is true (you would have to claim your bags, recheck them, go through security, etc.) then that 90 minute connection looks pretty tight to me. When is your flight? Recall how Schipol has suffered "meltdowns" after being overwhelmed by crowds during peak season....not a good time to have a tight connection...

Did you book the flight on the KLM site?

I cannot find a HER-AMS-YVR routing on the KLM site

But Is this on a single ticket all the way, or two separate tickets? And did you book it on the KLM website, or some Franken-ticket website?

Answers to these questions can make all the difference and are critically important.

An online representative has said that the bag will not be checked through and that I will need to get the luggage at the Amsterdam airport and recheck it with KLM.

That is truly odd as the KLM website shows the Tranavia flight with KLM flight number ( KL2521).

I suggest you contact KLM again and speak to someone different, a supervisor if necessary, to clarify this. Considering it has a KLM flight number you should be able to check your bag through without having to retrieve it until you are at YVR

If you have to retrieve a checked bag, re-check it, go through exit passport processing and security on your way to the next gate, that seems a lot to do in 95 minutes
