trains from Litochoro greece to bad sackingen germany

I'm having a hard time finding out what city's and countries we pass through by train from Mount Olympus to Bad Sackingen. also does anyone out there know if we should just do point to point or erail pass? I noticed you said in Germany it would be a good idea. But I don't understand why.

thanks

There are no trains from Greece to western Europe. You basically will need to fly.

Heidi,

As Douglas mentioned in the previous reply, using trains on that route will not be an option. Your best bet is probably a flight from Thessaloniki to Basel-Mulhouse, but the flight options will depend on exactly when your trip is taking place.

I'm not entirely clear on your statement "I noticed you said in Germany it would be a good idea." Could you clarify?

I have 2 friends that say it is possible but that you have to stop at each station and continue buying tickets. ..i don't care if it's tedious or time consuming. ..i really want to see as much of Greeces as possible. I know there is not a straight route through but is this way my friends mentioned possible.

Any advice would be really helpful

Well if your friends say it is possible why would you doubt them?

Perhaps they will share exactly what route they say will work, you could then share that here. There will be folk here who will know each portion and can confirm or not.

From Thessaloniki to Bad Sackingen by train takes over 40 hours. It's not a question of "seeing as much of Greece as possible," but of crossing Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria. Taking an overnight ferry from Patras to Italy and train from there takes about the same time. How to Look Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the DB train schedule link and tips for using it. See www.skyscanner.com for flights.
