We plan to visit Nafplio in late spring.
What day tours do you recommend based on your experience?
What tour companies would you recommend based on your experiences?
Perhaps there is some helpful info in the above Search. The RS Greece tour goes there, so perhaps you can find info in the Trip Reports and Scrapbooks.
We can also join area -specific Facebook groups for real - time, on the ground info.
Have a great trip!
I’ve not been to Nafplio for five years but we used to go regularly and I wasn’t aware of any excursions running from there. We occasionally used to use a place on the seafront for car hire or to book hotels in Athens. They seem now mainly to do car hire but still advertise themselves as a travel agency and as having excursions.

I’ve no personal experience of the excursions.

Alas, I think Nafplio has given up doing useful day tours. The very first time I visited (25 years ago!), there was a nice tour that did Mycenae in the Am, then lunch and Epidaurus in the afternoon. Ever since then... NADA. I even visited the Mayor's office to complain! What is more, the local bus schedule when last I checked doesn't work out so you can see both of these in one day. If you are driving from Athens or elsewhere, of course you can do a "rruin-a-thon" in one long day... have done it! Herre's how:
Mycenae at 9, drive back & stop at Tiryns (right by the roadside) for 45 minutes (no crowds!!) and bring a bag-lunch to eat, sitting atop the heights. Then onward to Ancient Epidaurus ... enroute, keep eyes peeled to LEFT side of highway, halfway there, you'll see perhaps the oldest continual-use bridege in world (certainly oldest in Europe) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkadiko_Bridge At Epidaurus, there are acres of ruins - concentrate on the Tholos only -- Museum only minor interest (best stuff went to Athens), but the world-heritage famous Theatre is the stunning focus. Wow. Drriving back to Nafplio, you'll be tired, if it's May, kinda hot & sweaty... so Stop at the Ruin of ASine for a nice surprise... a cute noncrowded cove for a swim, with ONE taverna... one time we loved it so we stayed for a delish fish dinner at sunset.
I haven't mentioned Ancient Nemea (aafter the corinth Canal, just off highway to your right), because you can see that en rouote to Nafplio if driving ... wonderful Stadium, NO Crowds. And coming OR returning, jump off biggie highway at Isthmus to walk out on t he olld bridge and see the Corinth Canal (so deep! so Skinny!).
IF you're reaching Nafplio by bus or car service, you can rent a car by the day in NAFplio; your hotel can arrange it (wise to think ahead if you only drive automatic). The obove adventures of course are sell\f-guided, so that means hmework in advance, more than clicking thru You-Tube photos. Your local library has solid guides -- Rough GUide, R Steves, Blue Guide, Michelin -- and you can photocopy maps & descriptionis . Takes time/effort but it's totally worth it!
We do not use tours normally so can’t help with them. Independent touring is perfect got thus area.
The following are very easy to visit independently by rental car.. Nafplio is central to many excellent historic sites, including the following:
Epidavros
Mycenae
Mystras
These are wonderful places to explore.
I've been to Nafplio a number of times and it's a great base to explore nearby world class archeological/historic sites.
I'm not aware of any tours out of Nafplio but it's easy enough to do-it-yourself as the internet and guidebooks can help.
The best website for Nafplio is:
With the advice from the website you can easily do day trips for exploring.
I normally take the bus from Athens to Nafplio if you are concerned about driving from Athens but from most accounts it's relatively easy.
Once in Nafplio I rent from Staikos Car Rental. Great service and some of the best prices in Nafplio.
