We will have one day with a vehicle to explore Santorini outside Fira-Oia. We definitely will go to Akrotiri and Thera. I am looking for some input on other places as there isn’t extensive coverage in the three guidebooks I have and the descriptions on the internet make everything sound good.
Pyros is the village all guidebooks seem to recommend so I was thinking of going there. Are there other villages that are enough different from Pyros to be worth visiting? A couple I have read a little about are Megalochori and Emporio.
I am interested in life on Santorini before mass tourism and I found a couple places that I thought might be interesting. We won’t have time to go to all of them so was wondering what was most worthwhile. There is an Industrial Tomato Museum in Vlychaada. Has anyone been there?
And then there is a wine museum (Koutsogiannopoulos) and Art Space that seems to also have a historical aspect to it. My impression is they both portray traditional wine making. Which of these two would you recommend?
I plan to go to the folk museum in Fira too but not on this day.
Anything else you would recommend?
