We would like to take an organized cruise around the Greek islands in the February-March timeframe. We would prefer something smaller than the thousand person cruise lines.
Suggestions for tour companies?
Is there a preferred time to go?

Not certain about your timeframe but have you looked at Variety Cruises? We are considering a cruise with them next August and also prefer smaller ships.

Greece really isn't a cruise ship destination in the off season.
I just did a search and discovered The Norwegian Jade has a one night stop in Athens on March 3 and March 23. You might be happier with Itineraries in warmer climates.

After the GEEK island, make sure you visit the NERD island.
Sorry, I just had to.
Seriouisly, many of the Greek Island hotels and restaurants shut in the off season. February and March is off season.
The exception is Easter. Easter is a major holiday in Greece and everything will be swinging. Next year Easter is in early April. If I don't go this October, I'll be going back next April.
If you could arrange to be in Greece on Easter, it's a fun time.
By the way, that's Orthodox Easter (April 16, 2023)

STan if you want in-depth weather, don't depend on forum observations, do a bit of research yourself on websites set up for this very purpose. Frank II - I think you’re confused. The Geek islands are just off the coast of the Nerderlands. Janet has the right idea about checking climate on a good website. I prefer timeanddate.com thanks to a suggestion from Acraven a few years back.
Greece can be a bit blustery in February/March still.

We just booked a cruise in April 2023 on Azamara Cruise Lines. https://www.azamara.com/voyage/pr08m132/8-night-greece-intensive-voyage
It is a small cruise line, ships hold 650 passengers, which is less than the Viking Ocean cruise ships.
We thought April would be warm, but not hot. The trip starts in Athens and ends in Istanbul.
