Toilets at the Acropolis

We are visting Athens for the first time next month, and I have heard that the toilets inside the complex are currently closed for renovation.

Does anyone have an idea when they will re-open? I did email the official site but have had no response.

Does anyone know if there are cafes or similar close to the entrance where I could use the toilets before or during my visit? I ask because I have a bladder problem and can rarely last longer than an hour or so, so I might need to go out half way through and re-enter, if this is even possible.

I know there are official toilets at the entrances, but from my research, half of them are out of order and the queues are crazy.

Any tips from people who have visited recently would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I can't answer your specific question, but totally sympathise with your predicament.
I resort to incontinence underwear on such occasions to avoid stress and accidents!

If memory serves me correctly, there are bathrooms in the car park where the buses load and unload passengers for the Acropolis.

Thanks for your sympathy Lin C.

I have never tried incontinence underwear, since luckily I don't have incontinence, not yet anyway.

They wouldn't hold enough for really needing to go though would they, I assumed that they were just for the odd leak from coughing or jumping.

I might have to try them if I am wrong about that. Do you have a brand you recommend, and I can see if we can get them in Australia.
