We are doing a port tour in athens . 8 hours. 810 euros plus we pay admission for acropolis and a museum. What is appropriate tip? Its a driver and guide. We have to get cash so I am kind of stressed about getting enough euros (a lot fo the things we are doing asking for cash).
Why do you want to tip? You're paying a significant amount for the service so why do you want to pay more?
If I didnt have to tip, I would not. I was looking online and it seems that many people tip for the tours in greece? (and italy? we are doing tour there too). I think we are paying a huge amount for the tour to being with. We only tip a few euros -if any - at restaurants in europe. Yes you can guess we are from USA - land of out of control tipping (hate that!).
If you're paying €810, then that's surely enough; it's not as though you're making up for low wages.

But you don't have to tip, there's no requirement (it's not a tip if there's a requirement, that'd be a charge/fee) or obligation. Simply because some people tip doesn't mean that you have to. You're already paying a lot for your tour so there's absolutely no reason to pay anymore. Try to let go of that American tipping guilt. I've taken many paid tours in Europe and have never left a tip other than one in Rome which was 'free' and there was a clear expectation for a donation/tip of some degree.
