Tickets for Athens - do I need to buy before I go

I am on the last few details of our June 2023 Greece vacation. We will end our trip in Athens for 3 nights. We decided against a tour outside of Athens with the information and advice given by forum members. So we arrive on a Saturday afternoon from Naxos. (using Welcome pickups to get us to our Hotel). We have an 8:30 walking tour booked for the evening. That leaves us Sunday and Monday to visit the sites. Should I buy a combo ticket before I leave the US, buy at the first place we visit, or pick a tour? I am afraid of getting stuck in lines forever at the Parthenon. We are a group of 4 (age 21 and three of us in our mid 50's). I have read about making sure you get a Licensed guide to go into the sites but just wondered how easy it is to do this all ourselves with perhaps the RS audio guide.

It all depends on what you want to visit.
Those under 25 are entitled to a 50% discount but this discount does not apply to the €30 combo tickets (combined)

So if you buy 4 x 30€ combined tickets you can visit all the following sites with this single ticket:
Acropolis, Ancient Agora, Roman Agora, Hadrian's Library, Olympieion stadium and Kerameikos.

The first 4 are grouped in the same area within walking distance and can be visited in a single day if you start early.

Stadium and Kerameikos are outside this area.

If you buy single tickets to visit only the Acropolis, it will cost you 2x20€ for adults and 2x10€ for those under 25.

In summary, the €30 combo ticket is only useful if you visit more than 2 sites included in the combo.

In both cases these tickets allow you to directly access the sites (skip the line)
People with discount tickets will have to present an ID proving their age

Note that the Acropolis Museum is not included in these tickets, it is a private independent site. Free audio guides are available to visitors

The official website to buy the tickets is here: (select Attica & Central Greece)

Depending on their availability you will probably see official guides at the entrance to the sites.
I guess the visit with an official guide is certainly more complete than the RS audio guide (you can't ask questions to an audio guide).

The choice is yours.
