Hi friends, after looking at all the various areas in Athens, I'm leaning way toward Thiseio to stay as it is quieter and walkable to Psyri for meals, etc. We are not big on staying out late, so I'd prefer a quieter area to stay. We're probably going to stay in Athens for 4-5 nights, explore there for 2 and then use it as a base for day trips. Then on to Meteora and then down to the Peloponnese Peninsula. Thanks in advance
The Thissio area is an excellent location, often overlooked by visitors, right between the Gazi neighborhood and the bustling Psyri neighborhood.
The large pedestrian Ermou street allows you to reach Monastiraki Square or the archaeological site of Keiramikos. Continuing west you can also see the Industrial Gas Museum located in the Technopolis City of Athens.
Never staying in hotels in Athens but in apartments or studios, I can't recommend anything that I know of, there is a hotel that seems not bad, the Mira Me Boutique Hotel (with a rooftop restaurant)
To check if it is not noisy because it is located on the non-pedestrian part of Ermou street
Thanks for the feedback! I’ve been thinking of doing just that, would you happen to have any recommendations? I’ve been on VRBO but was having a bit of trouble identifying if they were in the correct neighborhood or not, thanks!
