We will be traveling to Europe in late September and early October. At the end of our trip we plan to stay on one of the Greek islands for 4-5 days and then to Athens for about 3 days before heading home.
We are 70 and in reasonably good health. There seem to be so many wonderful choices; we were wondering if anyone has comments on their stay in Corfu or recommendations for other islands that are easily accessible; we would be flying in from Rome.
As it will be at the end of our trip, we're looking for relaxation, good food and nearby sites to explore. Thanks!
Hi there: Greece is a scenic country and I love it. Corfu is nice but very touristy, if you are ok with this. It's famous for beaches and olive oil. Late Sept-early Oct could be rainy and thus I suggest you check the weather before making a decision. Ionian islands are more wet than the southern islands.
Thanks for the input, we'd like something less touristy. Any other islands you might suggest?
Skyscanner is a good site for checking intra-European flights. I would plug in Rome and Greece and the date to see all of the best options time-wise, then rate those locations.
That's a really good way to go about it, thanks!
